Innovative Aviation Education.
Our mission is to redefine aviation education through affordable, innovative instruction that simplifies complex concepts, inspires a passion for flying, and builds confident pilots in command from day one.
Built Around the Pilot You’re Becoming
Every lesson is shaped by one question: will this make you a safer, sharper pilot? These are the four things we want you to walk away with.
A Real Community
Learn alongside students and pilots who ask questions, share hard-won lessons, and are always ready to help you out.
Always Up to Date
Lessons are checked against the ACS and how flying actually works today, so nothing you learn is stale or second-hand.
Genuinely Prepared
You’ll do more than just pass your written exam. You’ll show up to lessons and checkrides actually understanding the material.
Sound Judgment
The point isn’t memorized answers — it’s the confidence to make good go/no-go decisions when it counts.
How We Teach, and Why It Works
We teach the “why” behind every rule and every force, because understanding is what lasts long after a test. And we back it up with live instruction, mock orals, and honest debriefs. If something isn’t clicking, we stay with you until it does.
Our Founders

Our Story
Before The Roo Project
Every founder story starts somewhere. Ours started with a loaf of bread, a sewing kit, and a lot of childhood stubbornness.
Elliot and Hayden have been friends since they were kids — the kind of friendship that survives terrible business ideas and somehow turns them into good ones. At 12 years old, the two of them started a bread company together, hauling loaves around the neighborhood before either of them could legally hold a job. At just 8 years old, Maddy launched her first “business” too, upcycling old t-shirts into dresses with her dad’s sewing machine. She did $7 in sales before sadly, her business was dissolved.

Where It All Came Together
Elliot and Maddy grew up, fell in love, and got married. Of course, Hayden was right there giving his heartwarming speech at their wedding. Between the three of them, there was a lot of business instinct, a shared obsession with figuring out hard problems, and one thing that made this idea different from every other idea before it: aviation.
Elliot has always loved flying, and has turned his love into a mission. He saw an industry full of brilliant, complicated knowledge that was often taught in ways that felt outdated, intimidating, and expensive. He knew it could be simpler. He knew it could be better. So he pitched the idea to Maddy first.
She was in before he finished explaining it.
Then he called Hayden. Within five minutes on the phone, Hayden was in too.
That’s it. That’s the whole founding story. No boardrooms, no pitch decks, no hesitation — just three people who trust each other completely, saying yes to a shared mission.

Where Does “The Roo Project” Come From?
Long before any of this, Maddy’s big brother gave her a nickname when she was just a baby: Roo. (No, there was no correlation to the kangaroo.) It stuck. She carried it into every business she built afterward, as a little signature that was hers alone. When the founders started building this company together, they adopted it too — not just as a name, but as a nod to where it all began.
“Project” wasn’t random either. We’re not a finished product sitting on a shelf — we’re an ever-evolving idea that keeps growing right alongside the people we teach. We’re working around the clock to build out everything we’ve envisioned, and we’re not there yet. Not all of our content is live, but that’s the point of a project: it’s always in motion, always improving, always becoming more of what it’s meant to be.
And so, The Roo Project was born.

What Drives Us
Maddy has always had a deep passion for kids and teaching. She loves taking something big and making it click for a young mind. That passion, combined with Elliot’s love of flying and Hayden’s relentless drive for building smart, sustainable businesses, became the foundation of everything we do.
We believe learning shouldn’t feel like a wall you have to climb. It should feel like a door swinging open. That’s why we lean into film-style, creative instruction — breaking down complex aviation concepts the way a great story breaks down a hard idea: visually, simply, and in a way that actually sticks. It’s also why we built a kids program designed to introduce aviation early, in a way that feels exciting instead of overwhelming.

Just Getting Off the Ground
We think understanding the skies makes every pilot safer and every flight more confident — and we’re only getting started. Every week we’re building new lessons, mock orals, and case studies, and reimagining what learning to fly can feel like.
A learning community built around genuine understanding — not shortcuts to a passing score.
A full eight-unit curriculum that takes you from the four forces of flight all the way to checkride day.
Known among our students for turning dense theory into something you’ll actually use on every flight.
