You can start building knowledge anytime, but you’ll need a private pilot certificate to earn the instrument rating. Starting the ground work early means arriving at your instrument training with the foundation already built — saving you money in the airplane, where every hour counts.
Your instrument rating has two sides: the knowledge (ground school, the FAA instrument written exam, and the oral portion of your checkride) and the flying itself (approaches and procedures with an instructor in the airplane or simulator). We handle the first side and make sure it sticks.
